Satiren föll för mig ganska platt, men i det stora hela var det en underhållande, om än onödig, fortsättning på Hundra(ett)åringens resa.

I get that this book was written long after the first, and that it was amusing that Allen encountered current day lunatics. But I could not suspend belief when the man turned 100 in 2005, and then turned 101 in this book, obviously set in 2017. I also had to ignore the half dozen other people who were with him and Julius in Indonesia at the last book, and that their hotel was owned by Allen's friend/girlfriend/whatever. Still very amusing and full of adventures, but the timeline and context didn't follow nicely, and I missed the historical components of the narrative of the previous book.

This lacked the charm of the first book and wasn't very engaging.

To be honest I'm a bit disappointed.
I walas expecting something more in the trend of the first adventures of Allan, but it turned out to be a lot of politics with a backdrop of Allan. There were the humorous parts of Allan here and there but I felt him being pushed aside by Julius and Sabine.
I intensely loved Allan's character, wittiness, fortune and his being down to earth in the first novel. This is obviously maintained here however it's just a small part of it.
After finishing the first novel I seriously had a bookhangover and missed Allan for a while (yup I know that is just how much of a book nerd I am

Entertaining and silly and chuckle-inducing, but I think I should have read #1 before reading #2.

the first was so good!!! I guess it's my own fault for having high expectations, but I really didn't realize how political this would be. And not a funny political. An annoying, cynical, whiny political. I never realized the first was supposed to be political, and I like it a lot better not knowing. If you ever wanna ruin the magic of a book, look no further than the sequel.

I know this is harsh, and the book was pretty good, just not nearly as good as the first. The characters seemed different, main characters from the first disappeared in the second without a words explanation, and not to mention the 11 yr plot hole, the first being set in 2005 with Allan 100 and the second set in 2016 or 2017 with Allan 101... That was hard to get past.

Most people come to fiction to not have to hear about politics and how people are terrible and the world sucks. Im not sure why that was such a prevalent theme in this book. I'm glad it was an easy read and relatively fast paced, just so I could get the the end quicker.

Overall, I adored the first, it was hilarious and fun and lighthearted, and the sequel? Disappointing.
