I liked it, but it felt like it was a better book to write than to read if that makes sense. It was nice to spend some time in Offerman's head, but I think three essays that were more succinct could have achieved the same end.

I love the ecological side of this book and the point of we need to appreciate the farmers and people who grow all our food and not give in to capitalism. I didn’t like all the Christian/republican/political talk even tho I agree with some of those views I just didn’t wanna read about that since I’m not into it.

First half of the book: five stars.
The ending, particularly the epilogue: meh.

This was nice to casually listen to in Offerman’s voice—hence 3 stars. For content it’s more like 2. There really isn’t much substance here. I guess it’s nice to know that this celebrated “manly” actor is a staunch feminist and democrat. His diatribe against Brett Kavanaugh is even therapeutic. Really this book is a bunch of musings, as the title suggests. There’s not much of a current here. I’d rather Offerman had taken a very narrow story approach—maybe even an essay format—to allow him to dig deeper into what he’s trying to say about National parks and traveling the US in an airstream during the pandemic and sustainable shepherding in the UK.
