Campsite Killer had a daughter named Sara. When the killer learned of this news, he reached out to her. Staff Sergeant Sandy McBride is on the case. While Sara is investigating she is contacted by someone who has information about her mother’s murder. Sara will finally learn the truth about her mother’s murder.

I thought this book was a nice, quick read for a short story. It was a nice tie in to Never Knowing. It is in that book where Sandy fully investigates the case of the Campsite Killer. However I would say the main focus of this short story was really Sandy and her mother’s murder. It was good to get to know the full details of the case. Also it was nice to see that Sandy finally gets closure. The only thing about this book that would have made it better is that the murder case surrounding Sandy’s mother was stronger. So for me I wanted more of the intensity that comes from a murder investigation like what was the killer’s motivation for the crime? I did learn the reason but to me it kind of came off as ok here is the reason and accept it. None of the other characters that Sandy interviewed were very memorable. So this book just left me wanting more. Luckily Chevy has a new book that will hopefully give me that titled Always Watching.

This was a short-ebook short story novella--I actually read after reading ALWAYS WATCHING. (should have read it prior to). I was familiar with Nadine, the psychiatrist (Always Watching), and Sergeant Sandy McBride Never Knowing).

Sandy is working on the big case (Campfire Killer),as she gets closer gets a call about her mother's murder as she is pulled back into her past she thought was buried. A quick intense suspense with two strong characters - offering a teaser of Always Watching-which I recommend.

Maybe it's been too long since I read her other books.....I didn't really remember the characters or about the initial plot (finding the Campsite Killer).
I know this is a short short story, but it was too short for me. There was no real detail, just this happened, this happened, this happened, end of story.

This short story shows the point of view of a side character in another book, so I would have enjoyed it more if I had read that book recently and not years ago. I vaguely remembered it but not enough for the story to have much of an impact. I think it would be quite fun if read right after.

I never had any intentions of reading this short story only available as an ebook but I’ll do almost anything for my podcast. Very soon I’ll be doing an author spotlight of Chevy Stevens so I wanted to read as much as her stuff as I possibly could before then. Suffice it to say I didn’t like it much, it was ok. I have found that most short stories I read aren’t really my thing because it usually is little to no plot just more character development, and as a reader who prefers plots you can imagine how exciting short stories are for me. THE OTHER SIDE brings together psychiatrist Nadine Lavoie and police sergeant Sandy McBride and tells a parallel story to NEVER KNOWING, but also works as a standalone tale. I found it completely pointless unless you’re really invested in the police detectives from Never Knowing. This also reminded me how much they annoyed me in that book. Not worth the .99 cents I paid.

It was neat to hear at least a part of the story from another perspective.

A good little accompaniment to Never Knowing. Wish I would have read it closer to the time I read that.

Seriously! What a waste and a scam! I loved her first two books, but this was just nonsense. And a way for her to exploit her fans. Very disappointed.

This book is only 36 pages but the author packs a lot of interesting things into the pages. I enjoyed this short story and would rate it a 4.5.

I didn’t know that this was a subset from a series so to me it seemed pointless. Maybe if I read the initial book I would have enjoyed it more. Probably not the best choice for my first Chevy Stevens book.
