So many twists and turns in the plot, I seriously needed to know how, who, and why. It was really good.

I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. The relationship developed pretty naturally and it didn’t feel rushed to me.

I had issues with the way some situations were handled but it was mostly because it felt like the author deemed them unworthy of more exploration in comparison to other things in the book. The miscommunication for the last 1/4 of the book got on my nerves but not as badly as miscommunication so often does so it was honestly kind of ok.

Kingdom Fall is an Underworld Kings series book. You don’t need to read these books in any particular order. The only collective thing tying them together is a central location that’ll be mentioned in each book. I do agree that every book can be read as a standalone, but they may be related to one of the authors own series. This is a great way to be introduced to a new to me author. It may or may not end in a cliffhanger. Kingdom Fall does end on one!

The books that I have read by this author have been great so far and this book is no exception! It was VERY good!!! Alessio Scarcello needs a nanny for Nino, a boy that he is caring for and calls his son. Natalia Cabrera was hired to be Nino’s nanny.

I thought that this book was a little different in the fact that this author wrote Natalia with a disability. It wasn’t one that she was born with. I loved how Natalia was a kick a** woman. In fact I might be a little afraid of her.

I totally enjoyed reading this book and I look forward to reading the next book written by this author.

Yet another intoxicating page turner from the mafia queen, A. Zavarelli. Kingdom Fall has all the edgy grit, shocking twists, and emotional tension I've come to expect from a Zavarelli story, but it also has a surprisingly about of tenderness - and a whole lot of a swoon. I couldn't put this masterpiece down- consuming from start to finish!

A mafia, nanny-single father romantic suspense from the ever alluring mind of A. Zavarelli?! Uhm YES- gimme! And what an engrossing story it is- one full of suspense and passion, lies and secrets, trauma and love, redemption and forgiveness. Zavarelli's masterful take on the mafia trope combined with a really emotional story and a fantastic suite of characters is really the perfect combination. And it all begins with a the search for a nanny- and spark.

I have never loved an A. Zavarelli heroine as much as I loved Natalia. Wow- what a heroine. She’s overcome so much in her life- fought against so much adversity. Not only has everything she’s loved been taken from her brutally, savagely, and painfully, but she’s also got scars literal and metaphysical that plague her, including a disability that permanently changes her life. We know straight away she has something up her sleeve- there is more to her that we know, but we connect with her so intensely that we are automatically on her team. Whatever her agenda may be, we’re rooting for her. SHe’s that compelling. She’s resilient, brave, but also compassionate, kind, and intensely loving. Asheligh gives her such meaningful substance and layers as a character- she’s incredibly realized, palpably real to me as a character. And I loved the contrasting dynamics we get with her- her vulnerability and her fortitude, her resolved focus and her empathy, her timidness and her courage. So many notes- you can’t help but fall for her completely, as does Alessio.

And while Natalia really shines here, Alessio is also compelling- he’s a bit different than other Zavarelli heroes. Sure, he has the usual cold stoicism and ruthless gusto we love in AZ mafia anti-heroes, but he’s also more openly vulnerable, and though he’s been through quite a bit himself and he carries deep emotional scars, he’s less, well, less bitter. He’s a bit awkward in places, which is quite endearing, but he’s also just more empathetic and curious than I expected him to be. His goodness shines through quite easily- which is needed for us to forgive his mistakes in places, and for us to find him worthy of a heroine we instantly adore.

AZ writes push-pull, complicated character chemistry like no other- and that really sparks in this story. Both characters have secrets, both have agendas, but their magnetic pull towards each other is undeniably engaging. There are times when this book is really tender, quite swoony in places- a bit more light and sweet. Of course, we have plenty of dark elements in the past and the present, but the romantic tenor is more gentle overall, and wow, it’s quite affecting. Part of this is assisted by some real MVP side characters, Nino, the “son” of Aslessio in particular. His presence not only tugs on the heart strings, but it allows us to see some softer notes in all of our characters early on- and gives their character journey more depth.

This book is a bit longer than I’m used to from AZ- likely because it’s a completed story/a complete standalone. Though the end of the book mentions a spin-off featuring two side characters that has be fascinated. The story, thus, feels hard fought- these two dance around each other a while before the secrets come out and before they figure out how to reconcile their passion and emotion with their truths. But the journey is worth it- and the ending is just so sweet. Along the way we have so much suspense, drama, steamy magic, and some really amazing character connections. And a truly unforgettable, and unparalleled, heroine. Another fantastic story from the amazing A. Zavarelli.

DID NOT FINISH: 65%

The FMC doesn’t have a backbone
The MMC is sick in the head
- alesso’s reaction ?? idc about who he just lost or the fact that he’s confused. does the author hate women? natalia’s lived the most awful thing and alesso…. strangles her ? never should have been written. EVER. and then…. SHE goes to console HIM? and he decides to use her. you’ve got to be kidding. let’s stop it with the stereotypical perfect little martyr who has been through the most gruesome shit yet remains altruistic and whatnot
- the mmc is one of those people who don’t believe women, he basically testified calling his brother’s wife a liar (on top of hesitating to believe natalia) and a survivor ends up with him? « he never showed any sign » lmao
- even after they get married, he can’t forgive or understand her? how old is he exactly ? let’s compare both of their situations ? she didn’t know him and he was in the wrong here, standing along with monsters. yet he doesn’t get it and keeps hurting her while she openly tells him she loves him and pursues him? a guy who didn’t even bother to learn ASL for her ? they don’t even have conversations off pages the whole book, it’s simply à obsession based on lust at this point

« i had to hurt her so i couldn’t destroy her later » people who think like this deserve the very worst

« experience taught me love was an illusion » i’m sorry for what happened to him, but how is it men get to never move on while women have to be their crutch even though they’ve been through ten times worse ? i know we’re not supposed to compare trauma but come on?

and he didn’t have to grovel or even support her even once. it was always natalia doing it for alessio

this book really took a turn for the worse. a few pages tarnished a lot of the story and then it kept going, and natalia honestly deserves better

"In their place is a need I’ve never felt before. A need for connection. A need for him inside of me."

I am completely mesmerized every single time.

Kingdom Fall is a hard hitting standalone romance written by A. Zavarelli in the Underworld Kings world. A suspenseful and action packed romance with a layer of darkness that captured my soul. Utterly intoxicating. Sensual. Steamy. Kingdom Fall is a powerful romance with a sexy and tantalizing twists. My gosh, this book was everything. Mafia romance perfection from a talented author who always gives me a mafia romance that I will fall irrevocably in love with. A. Zavarelli truly know how to write an amazing mafia romance. Kingdom Fall is INCREDIBLE!!!! Kingdom Fall is intrigue, sexiness and mystery at its finest!!!!!!

Enter Alessio Scarcello, a powerful successful mega rich billionaire antihero with a flawed and cruel character. He is ruthless, dangerous and sexy. Everything about Alessio was brilliant. Dominating. Alpha. Strong. Man, I loved every layer of him. He is not a mere human, he is a King and he rules his Kingdom with a iron fist. Yes, his name is Alessio Scarcello. Enter his leading lady, Natalia Carbrera, a sassy, vulnerable woman who has been through so much and had the tenacity and the power to bring Alessio to his knees. Natalia and Alessio sizzled with their cat and mouse chemistry that was off the charts electrifying. I freaking loved them.

Seriously if you haven't an A. Zavarelli book, you need to asap. She is freaking amazing. Kingdom Fall is a must read.
