the exciting 2nd installment of tj klunes Green Creek. i think i may have enjoyed this over the last one... or its a tie between the first book and this one.
the stand it features of the series: the very realistic dialog... especially cracking jokes in the most dire/ terrifying situations. hilarious and very true to life, jn my experience.
the queerness/ queer themes as a matter of course rather than an awkward focus.
the celebration/ understanding of each person having bet different skills/ strengths and that being seen as different but equal. i really appreciate that the series main character ox is described by ppl in the town (those not clear to him) as slow, not intelligent, not bright, etc. but is lived exactly as he is by everyone that matters and seen as incredibly special. of course later we come to find out just how special he is. the stilted/ simple style of the dialog mirrors our understanding of oxs brain functioning and this continues through the series even as the narrators change. at first i found this unique writing style off-putting but not only did it grow on me, i actually now love it & see it as one of the series' incredible strengths.
the description of shared emotions as colors and shred thughts being focused on single words is so comforting and endearing. i get the strong feeling that tj klune is autistic or close to people who are.
the character development is done so well. i really felt like i became one of the pack. i also found it so interesting that joe a character who was so integral in book one very much becomes a background charcter in this one, while still being present in all of the main happenings in the story.
very excited to dive into heartsong and brothersong and experience the story from another characters perspective.

For a story line that talks about such dark themes are full of blood, violence and gore.... Ravensong and the Green Creek series in whole is such a comfort read for me.
Betrayal, murder, genocide, war and familicide are just some of the dark themes encompassed in book but it is balanced out by strong portrayal of found family, love, trust, friendship and unity coupled with so so so much of humor is what makes this a true comfort read for me.
Ravensong is the second book in the 4 book Green Creek series and focuses on second chance love, childhood friends to lovers and is set in a mythical world full of werewolves, witches and human hunters.
The characters that are in this book are so loveable and well written you feel their pain, anger and sorrow as well as their joy, laughter and any emotion in between.
The love story of pack witch Gordo Livingston and pack beta Mark Bennett is so heartbreaking.... but their slow and well paced crawl back to a good relationship was painful as much as it was wanted by me. And you realise that it was both characters faults that lead to such anguish and heartbreak and you can't help but be nothing short of thrilled when they finally get together.
I fell in love with this series right from book one and book two lived up to my standards as well.
This is a definite recommendation to anyone who would want a good plot with a side of action, love, drama, suspense with a whole dose of humor!

TJ Klune never ceases to amaze me. His ability to truly find a character’s voice is incredible. The beginning of this one had me a little hesitant as I was worried the book would be rehashing the same events from the first in the series. However, this story surpassed my expectations and had me hooked more than I realized until I had a book hangover once finishing. There’s not a single member of the pack I don’t root for. I can’t wait to read the next one.
