TJ Klune never ceases to amaze me. His ability to truly find a character’s voice is incredible. The beginning of this one had me a little hesitant as I was worried the book would be rehashing the same events from the first in the series. However, this story surpassed my expectations and had me hooked more than I realized until I had a book hangover once finishing. There’s not a single member of the pack I don’t root for. I can’t wait to read the next one.
Honestly it is criminal that I have not read T.J Klune before this year, and I am ashamed! He is such a masterful storyteller, and has me absolutely hooked. How I wish that I could live in this world, the wolves, all the different kinds of magic! This book follows Gordo, the emotional closed off witch who took in Ox when he was young. Just like the previous book, there is time-jumping, which I felt was so impactful and created such emotional depth. I was so emotionally invested in everything that was happening and was emotionally experiencing everything with the characters. The one thing that I would have wanted (and hopefully will get) is a better understanding of how peoples' magic works, like how they cast magic? But that did not take away from this book being 5 stars!

I love a found family. I have some complaints, like the overuse of the phrase "growled lowly," but overall this was a great book. I think the way the magic is in Gordo's tattoos is cool. I really love the pack bonds and how their pack just keeps getting bigger. I also really like the setting of these books. For some reason, this book felt familiar to me. I kept getting a sense of deja vu. So if anyone knows what that's about, let me know...
