Brother. If I wanted to read the same thing twice, I would have re-read the first awful book. I had hopes that it would be better, but I just couldn’t get behind it. Yikes

I loved this one! All my complaints with the first were much less noticeable in the writing style and Gordo and Mark were just really cute and their relationship felt really natural in the way old wounds tend to be a bit messy in healing.

I loved that bonding didn't solve the omega issue and that Gordo didn't get his hand back after everything. Even how the town found out about all the shenanigans was really well handled. This book took all my pet peeves in paranormal romance and kind of flipped them on it's head.

And all my frustration with how fast people expected Ox to forgive Jough was totally assuaged with this. Gordo kept his grudge and when he finally forgave Mark it was his choice to, not because people were bullying him into it.

also moving tattoos are fucking lit hell yeah

yeah this one is the good one fr fr 10/10 no notes

I enjoyed the first book in this series, but I just could not get into Ravensong no matter how many times I kept going back and trying. It was so slow and maybe the pace speeds up later, but this taught me a lot about my pacing needs. I also couldn’t latch onto the backstory with any real intrigue. I LOVED the first book I read by Klune, though, which was Under the Whispering Door. It’s one of my very favorite books. So I plan to read more of his work along those lines.

This is truly such a fantastic series, and it was an absolute pleasure to get back to the Bennett pack. Right after finishing this one I found myself wanting to start the next book right away, to be honest. It is how invested you get into this story and its characters.

TJ Klune really has such a particular writing style and I always find it so refreshing to jump into the story he creates. The characters just feel so close to you, and you feel like you are a part of this pack. Gordo is such a great character and I truly enjoyed getting to know more about him. It broke me a little to see how he was treated. And to see Mark going through this heartbreak as well, just was so sad.

If I'm being completely honest, second chance is one of the hardest tropes to enjoy for me. It sometimes works, but more often than not, it frustrates me. I'm quite picky on forgiving people, and I feel like even after this whole story, I'm still a bit mad at the Bennetts. Because this whole story is more than a second chance at a romance, it's a second chance at friendships, family, and I don't think I'll ever get over Gordo being left behind like this.

It took so long in this story to reach a point where they were okay together so it made the whole story a bit more depressing for me, maybe. And the minute it could get to a good place, the plot twist made it so that we were back to a very depressing thing happening. Okay, it for sure made things intriguing and made me turn the page faster than ever but still... I kind of wanted more romance happening on page.

That being said, the action was really enthralling, the betrayals and things happening kept me on the edge of my seat and I just want to know what will happen next (I am honestly SO CRAVING Carter's story, my gosh!).

Ox is still my love… I just enjoy seeing him, he makes me proud. They say it in the book, and it shows on page as well, he has something special, a pull, even to us the reader. Love love love him.

Anyway, this universe will always be amazing to me and I cannot wait to continue this series. If you loved the first one, there is no doubt you will enjoy this second instalment as well.
