I just finished literally devouring Doors of Eden! As an anthropologist, I started off being a little judgmental about the evolutionary interludes. But they were compelling and beautifully written and when I figured out where Tchaikovsky was going with it, I was totally on board. What a masterful work with delightful twists and reveals along the way! The ending felt...inevitable.

Not as captivating as Children of Time/Ruin. An interesting read, nonetheless.

This novel is an entertaining romp with a serious socio-political message. It has a variety of protagonists to identify with, from younger LGBT characters, to older stand ins for white male SF readers and neurodiverse characters who are still empathetic with a romantic side. The descriptions of alternative pathways for intelligent life evoke the Fermi paradox debates, and the conclusion is a multiverse-level FU to Brexit and the rising tide of fascism.

Good weird sci fantasy blended into a kind of psychedelic horror adventure. It's impossible to properly describe, and filled with beautifully well realised settings. I personally found the closing act to be a little flat, but otherwise this book is very good.

Great story of missing girls, parallel worlds, alien incursions, and messing with the fundamental nature of the universe, set in contemporary England and a number of its alternate versions. Really difficult to put down.
