I enjoyed the suspense and the description of the horror, a very well written book. My only comments are I really hate how the ‘Gets were never explained, it was disappointing that this super interesting pandemic never factored into the plot at all.

After really enjoying The Troop, I wanted to check out another book by the author. What started as a solid premise, quickly fell into an absolute fever dream. I do enjoy stories about dissolving mental states and the inability to trust what is being seen, like The Thing. But this story took that and made it boring. By the time anything really happened, the book lost my interest and I was just pushing through to see if the climax brought it back for me. It didn't.

It’s been a couple days since I’ve read this,, but I’m still thinking about it!! I think this has been one of the best deep sea horror books I’ve read so far. The setting is eerie and wet, the characters are unique but fit perfectly to the story, and the writing style just seeps right into you!! Plus the ending was everything to me!! Just adored! This is definitely one of my top five books so far this year and probably top ten of all time!! Could DEFINITELY see myself reading again!!
I liked the premise and the first 20% or so. Once we got down in the deep I didn’t feel the tension and I became disconnected from the setting, the characters, and the stakes.
