"Mr. Toad's Wild Ride" is the first ride I ever went on in Disney World, at 3 years old, and I cried! To be fair, in the ride, your car crashes and you go to hell, which is hilarious to think about, now as an adult. A children's ride!

The book does not have such a fatalistic streak. In fact, it's quite nice to spend time with these animal friends and their adventures, and I can see why the book is considered a classic. The illustrations are also very good, especially the ones with Toad.

The vivid descriptions of the nature that surrounds the animal protagonists immediately grabbed my attention.  While this book seems more suitable for children, it also is more advanced in terms of vocabulary and flow.  For children and teenagers looking for a more advanced read with less romance and mature events, I would definitely recommend this book.  The story is slightly less cohesive than other books because it focuses on different adventures of the animals as they are brought together.  However, it cannot be considered a collection of stories because it is due to the actions of one character that the characters are thrown into turmoil and plot together to resolve it.  While it felt like there were some inconsistencies, I enjoyed this book and it felt like it preserved the storytelling style of children's books without becoming too simple for older audiences.

I can't believe I hadn't read this book before now! Instant new favorite, reminiscent of all my favorite classic children's fantasies (obviously because it was written before all of them). That's said, it's not exactly a children's novel or an adult novel - it's a Book For People Like Me (particularly during chilly Januaries).

Charming, slow, and whimsical read. Very akin to the English countryside and where the animals reside. It’s not one I’d read again, but it was cute enough, and a book I’d actually enjoy studying in a class.
