I think in some ways, this book was more helpful to me as an introduction to attachment theory than anything else (and I’m grateful to have avoided first encountering it through a mono/heteronormative lens, which I suspect might have lead me to be dismissive). It’s given me a lot to think about. I have some points of frustration (specifically, as almost always, too much focus on "couples"/the transition to polyamory for, specifically, established monogamous pairs; also, short shrift to trans and especially non-binary perspectives, asexuality, and the importance of attachment figures that aren’t traditionally romantic/sexual partners, though lip service was given to all, to be fair). That said, I got a lot from reading this, and it’s definitely a text I’ll come back to and use. 3.5 stars?

Sitting with this for the next few weeks. It seems like an excellent starting point.
