While I liked learning more about Genevieve, I didn't b like this one as much as the others in the series. I like learning more about the townspeople of Henry Adams but it seems every back story is so overly complicated with multiple spouses and extended family that is nearly impossible to keep straight. I don't want Cliff notes to read for fun! I'm also tired of Riley. Originally his pet hog was an eccentric nod to the silliness of small-town lives but its become almost a parody by now. Cletus isn't cute enough to be fun and Riley is too means spirited to care about. I hope he moves away soon. I still like the kids best and I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing.

This is a bit formulaic but no less sweet. I love how Henry Adam's is growing and changing.
While I love these novels, they are heavy on Respectability Politics, strong xtian theme that doesn't look at the inherent violence built into the religion or that it functions as the handmaiden tp white supremacy, a bit fat phobic and a bit homophobic, though a gay character is added in the 8th installment of the series.
The charm of this wholesome town is perfect in so many ways. I'd move there and see Ms. Bernadine about helping the town be less of all the above. 🥰

I love this series! Henry Adams is where I want to live! So much happened in this story. Riley returns from California broke and hog-less. Devin's band is a hit. Jack wants to.go back to California and fears his grandmother is going to ruin his father's love life. It was so much fun reading this book! I had to savior the moment.

I listened to this audiobook in one day! This book had happy moments and sad moments. Even though I wasn't excited about the return of Riley and his hog, Henry Adams wouldn't be complete without them. Gen was able to find herself and happiness. Paula got some closure on her past. Some additional characters were added and Beverly Jenkins did not disappoint!!!

Character developments ahoy! I enjoyed this a lot. I am a little sick of Riley and his pig, but I really enjoyed the developments for Genevieve in this book and the next steps in a couple of the other relationships going on. And this series is just so calming to read - you can sit down and relax into the company of old friends.
