If you're involved in ministry, whether at the pastoral level or otherwise, you need to read this book. If you're too busy to read it, then you REALLY need to read it. I'm sure I cannot recommend it highly enough, other than to say that by God's grace it may have saved my ministry.

I appreciate this book by Christopher Ash. Tired pastor, beware ministry machismo. Guard against burnout.

Zeal Without Burnout is a short and practical encouragement to remember that we are not God and must live within our limitations. In it, Christopher Ash discusses some of the common causes of unnecessary burnout and points out that some of the choices we may deem more spiritual are actually detrimental to our ministry and our ability to continuously live a life of service. God does not need a day off, but we're not God. We do. God does not need rest, but I am made of dust. I need refreshment.

When we care for ourselves well, it puts us in a better position to keep on sacrificing instead of crashing and burning. God has grace, but sometimes His grace is shown in pointing out the potential for harm before we find ourselves overwhelmed in a place we should never have been. I highly recommend this book to anyone in Christian ministry.

A simple, yet encouraging little book of wisdom for anyone who knows something of the weight of ministry.

Short, and yet powerful truths contained in this book! My first thought upon finishing the book was "I wish I had a copy to give to every friend that I have in the ministry!"

The truths contained in this book are Biblical and very needed in this "ministry-success at all costs" mentality that many churches & Bible colleges today espouse, if not in their classroom, in their ministry.

this is a quick read but was packed full of biblical counsel on rest and ministry and i highly recommend any person who’s in lots of ministry( or maybe desiring to?) to read it, my mentor bought it for me and it was such a perfect read. it’s easy and quick but deep and insightful, I read a chapter a night and i would go through the day thinking about it and meditating on Gods goodness, that he loves me whether I work or not, and working won’t add or subtract to his love for me because it’s so constant. this book moved my heart.

First book read of 2017 and it was a blessing. Always encouraging to hear that I am not God, and God doesn't expect me to be god, simply trust that I am dust and He is King.
