"My friend, the Wild."

I will proudly say that this is, my favorite book.

Where the Crawdads Sing talks about so many things in such beautiful writing. At first, I gotta admit that it was a bit hard for me to get into -especially because of the writing style and the dialogue. But oh my God I was left speechless while sobbing so hard after finishing this book. God help my weak and broken heart, this is the book that I cried to the most.

This will forever hold a special place in my heart for being such a heart-breaking yet heart-warming story. Delia Owens writes such a stunning story about coming-of-age, love, connection, family, sense of belonging, and a place you call home. My review won't do this book justice cause I'm just speechless with how amazing the story was.

The characters are so loveable except 2 people (iykyk) and Owens created such interesting characters that are just, authentic. This book is plot-driven and what's fascinating to me is how those characters are placed in the story! I love the small-town vibes because everyone knows everyone and the connection the MC has with the side characters are so well-created!

This book is truly too stunning to be put into words; you simply have to read it <3

p.s. don't forget to check the trigger/content warnings!!!

"I have to do life alone. But I knew this. I've known a long time that people don't stay."

"Sunsets are in disguise.
Covering truths, covering lies."

I loved everything about this book except the ending!!! I just wish the murderer had been someone else because I had all this built-up expectancy and it all just deflated once I found out who had done it.
I loved how she got to live out the rest of her life with Tate and that was all super sweet but it just felt as if that all was not right once I found out that she had killed Chase and just gotten away with it. Yes, it was unexpected but they didn't even explain how exactly she had done it. I wanted more specifics about how she had gotten away with it and not run out of time.
So, overall this was a pretty good book, the beginning was a tad slow but once I got into it I loved it... up until the end. The ending and slow beginning are the reason this book was not a 5 star for me. I was slightly disappointed (by the ending, everything else was amazing) but not terribly disappointed... so I just suggest that you read this book for yourself, you might just see it differently than I do :)

Where the Crawdads Sing is such a beautiful book. the mystery feels so secondary to Kya, and everything about her - in the best way! It's a slower pace, which took me a while to adjust to but once I was in, I was IN. a really mesmerising book, which I expect would be all the more interesting upon reread.

A beautiful homage to mother nature and wildlife sprinkled with a dash of mystery. A bumpy journey awaits us as we witness Kya's intellectual and emotional growth as well as the conflicting emotions that come with dissertation through her lens of the world. It's nearly impossible to believe that this is Owen's debut novel. Her way of storytelling is breathtaking.
