You know if I was Holly Black after judecardan I would either go into retirement or milk that franchise for as long I can. This is utterly boring for world building to characters.

Honestly, this was just an alright reading experience. For being a relatively short, book it felt long winded in many places. I struggled to really understand the shadow terminology? I’m still not entirely sure what everything means lol I also really enjoyed the chapters titled “the past” more than I enjoyed the present day ones. I wanted the entire book to be about the past events lol Overall, it wasn’t terrible and I did enjoy parts of it… I just didn’t love it the way I hoped!

But the way the last chapter ended has intrigued me enough that I will probably pick up the next book. Maybe.
