I really did not like the FMC. She's pining after the king, and when she's kidnapped , she doesn't take any action, just sitting on her hands and waiting, woe is me. Not much of a reason to like her, but I'm interested enough in what happens next that I'll probably read the next book.

I was pleasantly surprised by the book and now the whole series as I’ve been reading them. Definitely trigger warning. But the awakening of a woman who realizes she’s been abused is both heartbreaking and hopeful.
