Found this to be super slowly paced and felt as though not all that much happened. Hopefully the next book heats up and gives more details! Also can’t for the life of me picture these “ribbons”

Oh hello Stockholm syndrome, it’s been a while! I have heard this book is more of a really long prologue and that the others in the series are better. If it weren’t for that I probably wouldn’t finish the series.

- The FMC is so frustrating. It makes it very hard to root for her at all
- If you are at all triggered by SA, this is not the book for you. It’s not normally one of my triggers and I still had a hard time

- Why would you have a map at the beginning of a book if none of the narration about the world seems to match the map??
- Way to kill off the only character I actually liked…
- The Stockholm syndrome is extreme and makes the FMC look incredibly weak and stupid
I am trusting the people who told me the series gets better, but man this was not a great start.

I don’t get the hate; This was a super enjoyable listen! The whole book was leading towards someone SAing someone, so I’m not sure why it came as such a shock. Ready for book 2!

super cool concept, if only the world building was better, and less metaphors/similes! Every teeny tiny detail was over-explained and it made the book a drag. the FMC is also a little pathetic and so frustrating !! definitely overhyped
