This book was phenomenal and brought clearer perspective to me in regards to our dealings with others. I felt a lot of thematic overlap between the events of this book and real life events, and the characters were just too perfect

This is one of the best, most emotionally poignant things I have ever read.

I have never been this affected by character deaths in my life, I have never felt so moved by character deaths, I have never cried so hard while reading. This is a beautiful book.

Absolutely fantastic!! 5+ stars!

I have enjoyed all three stories so far in the Malazan world that I have read, but this story, and this book, has far surpassed the first two. Adventure, gods reawakening, the return of favorite characters, war and its losses, and the building of friendships. What a powerful, moving story of these unique groups of people. If you have never read the Malazan Book of the Fallen, what are you waiting for??

For me this is definitely the best book out of the first three from this series. I laughed out loud, I cried out loud. and this book (seemingly) really lays the foundation of the overarching series. Both the history and the setup of the challenges that the crippled god brings to the malazan world is explored first in this book. (As far as I can see of course, as 7 more books await)

This is the book where the mists lift and I started to feel like things made sense. The story feels real and at times hilarious. The humor is never in your face, it feels smarter.

I can only echo my review from the previous book, this series feels like it would be even better on a re-read.

If StoryGraph gave me an option for 10 stars, it would get 11. I now know why everyone says you are hooked with the 3rd book. My only complaint is that I had to STRUGGLE through Deadhouse Gates to get here.
