Truly could not put the book down, I sped through this book. Paul’s voice gripped me, and seeing his struggles with identities and his own failures was intriguing. Are we who we are because of the lives we led, or the nature of our family? That’s the struggle he faced, and I imagine is still facing. The story isn’t over, and I hope Paul finds peace at the end of it all.

Very interesting and quite a mystery story, a la you can't make this stuff up. A bit melodramatic at points but understandable considering what he was going through.

Three stars or four?

In the end I gave it four stars because it's such an intriguing story, but I started to get a little heavy lidded during the genealogy sections. I mean it's interesting but it took right back to science class and I was horrible at science! I wish that there had been information regarding his sister; it felt unfinished somehow. But I have to be ok with that just as the author is. Life doesn't always go as planned or as wanted.

I saw Paul Fronczak's story on CNN. It was very relatable to me since I have a close family member who did not know his birth family. He also discovered that a crime in early childhood changed his life's path.

There is truth that finding relatives later in life doesn't always end up in warm loving reunions. People are self protective and are naturally wary. They will initially seem cooperative and happy to meet their relatives, later to retreat. This is completely understandable but sad.

The events in this book make it a real page turner. It could easily be a novel. Paul's quest became a fixation for him. He insisted on carrying the hunt even when it cost him his marriage. That seems to be a huge sacrifice.

Paul is a tenacious searcher and seeker. I am glad that he found some answers.

Good story, but could’ve been 1/2 or even 2/3 the length. A LOT of time spent discussing his lifelong genealogical search, which I’m sure is very interesting to him, but got quite dull after awhile
