honestly fun. its sort of slow but i enjoyed it and never thought it was dragging even when i was sorta baffled by the pacing. themes of cycles of abuse and neglect, forcing teens into fates they dont want to fulfill but either A) wind up doing anyways or B) becoming something worse. its not crazy hella deep or anything but for YA its good. some of the characters could maybe be considered very uh. trope-y? on the nose? falling perfectly into their telegraphed flaws? but i never found it to be too big of a negative, it sort of just was what it was.

Def did not enjoy it as much by the time I got to the end.. that just made me mad omg wtff. prolly had smth to do w how long I took to read this it lost my interest. (Also if someone mentions Alastair’s widows peak one more fucking time im gonna have to come through the pages and beat sb up cos DAMN OK WE GET IT) not as gruesome as I would’ve liked: only the obviously hopelessly evil one and the one no gaf abt died which isn’t as exciting. At points I almost Expected certain characters death like Finley or Isobel ffs. I’m gonna go find spoilers and be done w it tbh. Only character I fw heavy is Alastair
