A bit slow to start but once you get to the murder it really takes off! Had me laughing out loud at points and some of the twists really surprised me!

Cute and fun, quick read, it’s fun to solve the murder with the characters. There are some goofs along the way!

This book is completely bonkers. I wouldn't have it any other way.

What a silly little romp. Truly a riot. My snorts were most unbecoming of a lady (though I’d argue that I’m not nor ever have been one) but there was many a scenario and character so utterly ridiculous that I couldn’t help it.

Is it the most well constructed mystery? No. But it wasn’t predictable, in my opinion. Did things happen a little too easily? Yes. But I think the humor that’s present from the first sentence makes that a little more palatable. Was it historically accurate? Eh. No. But. Again, the humor lowers the expectations of accuracy from the get go. It’s passable enough to keep you immersed in the setting and the story.

The writing is good, the plot is interesting, the characters are likable, the absurdity is on point. It’s just a FUN book to read, even if ladies aren’t supposed to be interested in crime.

Kind of glad this will be a series, as I’m looking forward to another romp through the swamps of Swampshire, but I do think this concept/style could get old fast.
