Definitely was not expecting the ending on this one! I thought I had everything figured out and by the time the big twist was revealed, I was in shock! It just kept getting better!

It had me intrigued but the writing style made me quite detached from the characters and it felt a bit unrealistic.

I've, read some pretty bad thrillers but this one might take the cake as the worst one. First of all the fact that a 9 year old could hold so much power over everyone like that was not believable in the least. Maybe if Avery was a teen it could have been somewhat believable. Also Marion's motive was the dumbest part of this entire novel. Huge waste of time.

An enjoyable read with a satisfying end, but I still feel conflicted. There were points towards the end especially where I wanted to just skip ahead because it got a bit repetitive. I have a hard time with thrillers that bring up neurodivergence and this is no exception. I don’t like how often they referred to the neurodivergent children as difficult.
It’s like okay Avery has adhd but unrelated she’s also a sociopath, however these two are often conflated. Also, she’s being held as a 9 year old in a locked basement where a woman plans to murder her!!! It doesn’t matter that it was her idea to run away, as an adult Marion should’ve said no. It’s still kidnapping!!!!! Idk it kinda pissed me off.
