I liked the pace and multiple perspectives, that always keeps my attention. The storyline was interesting enough, too, to keep me wanting to know the resolution. I do think there are some plot holes/tropes/ loose ends that stood out, but overall still a quick thriller read !

Shari Lapena is my favorite thriller author so I knew I was going to love this book as much as the others. I will say, though, that after a certain point the story was dragging a bit and I was waiting for Avery to get exposed but it took longer to get there than I expected. This was such an interesting book though because I don't think there was a single character I liked other than Ryan Blanchard and Michael Wooler which I think was intentional with how flawed everyone was.

All in all, I enjoyed the book and definitely recommend it to new and old thriller fans alike!

I’ve been really into the psychological thrillers lately. Giving this one a 7.2/10.

This book was written in an interesting way - it gives away the “who dun it” about 2/3 of the way through, and the rest of the book becomes a “what’s going to happen now” type of story line. An interesting premise and unique scenario - I was engaged for the majority of the book however found the ending pretty disappointing. I can’t say too much more without giving away spoilers but ultimately a decent read about why lying and deceit are never the answer - as well as what extreme difficulties can arise out of having a challenging child. I do wish more questions were answered in the end, I think that would have been satisfying for me.

If you like easy reads / psychological thriller style books, you’d likely enjoy this book !

I would have given it a 4, but the ending was too abrupt for me. All the characters are very flawed and it makes for a great book, even if some of the decisions annoyed me as a reader. The last 20% were a bit slow, but I read that part in one sitting so it didn't feel too agonizing.
I will say, this book is one giant contraceptive pill! I don't know what I would do if I had a difficult and manipulative child like Avery 😅
