Sad to say this is a lackluster adaptation, I know things had to be cut out but this was incredibly rushed.

This is the graphic novel version of the first book in Riordan’s popular Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. Percy (a/k/a Perseus) is a 12-year-old dyslexic kid who fears he’s about to fail out of yet another school, disappointing his mother and antagonizing his stepfather. But in fact, he is about to discover that he is the son of Poseidon, a half-blood, and destined to retrieve Zeus’s missing lightning bolt from Hades.
I might have enjoyed this fantasy novel in the traditional book format. But the graphic novel is not to my liking at all. The print is tiny and all the color on the page makes it hard on my older eyes (especially when they reverse print – white font on green background, for example). I found myself disinterested in the dark images and just skipping ahead to read the dialogue. As a result, I feel that I missed a lot of the story. I can see where some children would be really attracted to this format, however I also think the images are very violent.

When I first got this book, I expected it to really follow the original book. But, it left somethings out similar to the movie but it all it was piece together in a nice format so that you didn't really notice it because the pictures were very beautiful and everything really connected the story to the pictures and the characters. Well that was a big run on sentence. There were some things that I kind of noticed like, in my head Percy's eyes were sea green but in the graphic novel they were like not black but not sea green. there were a couple pages that Percy had with Seagreen eyes and it gave me the feels but on some pages his eyes were like the regular color and I understand that artists have hard times like following the original the script but come on eye color is easy!

1.5 stars being generous
It lacks all charm and personality of the actual book and would make no sense to anyone else. And Percy felt very unpercy like. The art is fine I guess but it’s the book is honestly a 1 star for me

So I skimmed this, and the illustrations are pretty good, very telling, almost like a mini movie. I normally do not read graphic novels, mostly cause seomtimes i get lost in the boxes and its just...difficult. But since I pretty much know the story backwards and forwards, it was a bit easier with this one. They did change a few of the lines/delivery of the story from the book, but I suppose that is alright. They kept the main essence, which is always integral. I thought it was done pretty well. Of course the story is always great in any form in my opinion. I thought some of the scenes were really pretty, visually. Other than that, i do not know what else to really say..
