My mind is still blown from the ending and I need time to process it 😳 (in a good way). Love to see Prisca grow as a character and evolve into the leader she has to be. Also enjoying how her relationship with Lorian is developing, I feel that it has just the right amount of conflict to push them forward instead of holding them back. This has political intrigue, found family, and strong characters you want to root for, what else could you ask for? So excited to get to the next book!

In book 2 we follow priska and the corrupted after they’ve been rescued. now that they have escaped the king wants nothing more than to hunt the heir down and make her pay. We race across the lands in search of the hourglass and the amulets without them they have no chance in defeating the king. But is priska the heir they need her to be that’s what I’ll be hoping to find out in the next book.

The book had an interesting plot and characters, but the romance felt repetitive and went in circles. The male lead was way too broody—his constant angst got tiring after a while. The smut scenes were not my thing and felt the same every time, lacking variety. While the story had potential, it just wasn’t enough to keep me interested in continuing the series.

Often times as a series progresses the second books just don't live up to the first. Very pleased that was not the case here. Did drag a little in a few spots but still interesting with another cliffy ending.
