3.5 stars. I think I would have enjoyed this book more had I read it in an academic setting. Some classics I absolutely love without needing deep analysis or group discussion (Frankenstein, A Prayer for Owen Meany, Pride and Prejudice, The Glass Castle to name a few); Slaughterhouse-five is not one of those classics for me. I found the writing ok and I understand what it has to say, but it did not have that special something that makes me love a classic outside of an academic setting. Vonnegut’s voice and story telling just weren’t enough to grab my full attention.

i don't really have anything intelligent to say about this book, other than i think anyone who has any remaining inkling in their head that war is "worth it" in any way should read this, provided that they are media literate (if they aren't, i would recommend just bonking them on their head with a hammer until they realize people are human beings).
