There are so many things I was not a fan of in this book…….most of all what I felt was just really poor writing (I’m sorry to say this and I don’t say it without a lot of thought).
First off, the insta love. It’s not that I’m not a fan of love at first sight and all that, but when we are talking about marriage within two seconds of seeing each other it mighttttt be a stretch. Y’all are in high school and you just met. Take a chill pill lol.
Also, who calls their girlfriend “buddy?” Like, I get why it was that way in the beginning. But the guy literally calls her “buddy” FOR THE ENTIRE BOOK. That was such a turn off for me in this book. I just could not take them seriously at all.
Another big issue is mentioned in many other reviews. I like Paige, but her character is SO infuriating. She never once fights back or objects to any of the bullying or abuse that happens to her. It’s so difficult to root for a heroine that just expects the hero to save her on every single page.
Two stars because the bones of the story were fine, but between the VERY juvenile-feeling writing and the things I mentioned above, I literally only finished this book to see what happened. This one was a big struggle for me.

I was given a copy of this book as an Arc and asked to review it. I am leaving an honest review voluntarily.
This book is a fantastic story about honor, forgiveness, and overcoming peer pressure. It was an excellent read, and I truly enjoyed it.
Paige is a high school student, orphan, and outcast, even in her own family. Reid is a new student star with a football career within his grasp, but that changes his senior year of high school when he meets the girl.
This book is from both Paige and Ried's point of view. Although it includes bullying, I have to say that the author really tapped into a high school setting in the way the characters act and talk. It does include language and bullying scenes, but she works in it wonderfully. It doesn't come off as offense or trigger-causing. I could imagine it as a real high school with the social levels and outcasts. Unfortunately, Paige is unfairly outcasted due to her jealous cousin. Reid is the new hot student who is drawing all sorts of unwanted attention, and he is smooth in his wording, almost swoon-worthy.
This book progresses fast, almost like an instant love novel, but I can't be helped but be trapped in its story. It is sad, and you do want to feel and for the character who obviously isn't being treated right. But at the same time, I'm humbled by the honorable boy who came into her life and made a difference.
This book gets steamy, so beware nothing like first love and a first time. This book, unfortunately, goes from swooning and things looking up to outrage as you read. So be warned it gets worse before it gets better. The author did a great job of making the story exciting and natural to the readers. This story does end, and it has a surprising ending. I didn't expect that nemesis or that ending, but I loved every minute of this read.
I truly loved how this book could have been a real-life movie as I read it. The reality of it and the situation could happen, and it is believable. I thought the author did a great job with the characters displaying loyalty, honor, and forgiveness traits. Yes, this story is based on high school and does pertain to a lot of bullying, but it also shows how it can be turned around. I don't feel it needs a trigger warning as it isn't a dark story. It is almost inspiring to see reality flipped as things change for the better. But this book is definitely for a mature audience as it does pertain to adult situations.

I saw this in a FB book group that I'm in and it promised insta love romance. This really is a high school insta love romance. If that’s not your thing, then I would pass on this one. For the most part I enjoyed this book. I liked our main characters and thought they were really sweet together.
However, you really have to suspend your belief a bit. The bullying was way too much along with how quickly things were accepted.
All in all, if you like romances set in high school that move quick and can leave being overly critical at the door, then you will enjoy it.

Very Wattpad adjacent, I would have eaten this up at age 13

What a great YA book. Bullies, emotions, romance, all the things, all the feels. Honest, realistic, page turner, edge of the seat what happens next, told beautifully.
