This book was on my list for awhile and I added it to my book challenge as it features a female detective. I thought it was pretty good, although some parts went slower for me. I wanted this to be more like a Criminal Minds episode than it was! But there were some exciting parts. I also have the second in the series, so I have to decide if I want to read that one soon too.

This was a well written, terrifying thriller. A woman tries to stop the serial killer that her father never could. Off to look for the next one in the series

I loved every second of this book. As a fan of Criminal Minds this gave me similar vibes to The Reaper storyline and it was just as gripping.

This whole series is full of intensely visceral descriptions, amazing characters, really cool and fascinating psychology, and heart-racing action. It’s so addictive!

This is my first Meg Gardiner read, and I'm thoroughly impressed.

I will be going back through her other works to see what I've missed.

This thriller of book about the return of a serial killer to the bay area. He's killed many, 20 years previous and has decided to make a come back.

The author does a great job of making this a creepy but easy read. You become attached to the characters. You want to yell at the characters and make them not be so careless. You want to shake them and ask, why in the world would you do this while a serial killer is on the prowl. I would put the book down in frustration at the characters.

I loved the ending, it was a great set up for the next in the series

I haven't read too many police procedurals this year, but after reading UNSUB I might just pick up a few more!

I think the thing I liked the most about this book was how intense it was! The serial killer was pretty creepy, and I think the author did a really good job at making me feel so uneasy (even from the comfort of my own bed!).There were definitely a few scenes in this book where I was sat on the edge of my seat, flipping through the pages and rushing to see where it would go. By the end, I was a little sad to see it all end, so I was super happy when I realized it's actually the first in a series!

I do want to mention that there are some trigger warnings for this book. The crimes are pretty brutal, and the author doesn't shy away from giving pretty detailed descriptions of the crime scenes. That being said, I think this would be a great choice for someone who's looking for a more unique, but suspense-filled thriller/mystery.

This was a great thriller! The plot was well paced, there was no unnecessary marriage drama, and the ending left me wanting more! A great start :)

Despite some just over the top sequences, a fun thriller.
