Ugh - this had so much potential. Sadly it did not deliver.
The ‘curse’ is unexplained, the characters are cardboard thin, the passionate love affairs have very little chemistry.
The mystery resolved with a whimper and not a bang.
It was boring and repetitive. Listened to the last 1/3 of the book at speed just to get through the many unnecessary descriptions of blight in tobacco fields - felt like a lot was in there just to add pages to the book.
Would not recommend
