Will I end up making the first two books 5⭐️ too? Maybe. I couldn’t stop reading these. I got very attached to the characters and there were a lot of long strings that thread through all of the books and finally tied together here. It was good, it sucked me in, I cried (twice). This continues the “if it cries it gets 5” ranking system  that has become a pattern for me.

Slow start after the cliffhanger of The Last Graduate (and leaving the school), but a pretty good finish to the series. I love the magic system Novik created, and thinking back over the series as a whole with what we know at the end is a treasure trove of thought experiments.

My complaints include: some characters don’t get the chance to develop (
Orion, Liu
), some developed in unexpected ways that I’m still not sure the point of (
El with Liesel
), the storylines wrapped up almost too neatly.
I was also hoping we weren’t headed for an Orion-El balanced universe trope, and we kinda were, but not really?

The masterful world building that Novik gets to display in this story was blowing my mind left and right. It truly feels like a completion to the Scholomance Series.

El, Orion, Aadhya, Liu, and even Liesel have a part of my heart with this story. ❤️
