I feel bad only giving this three stars, as I do always enjoy reading Austen’s writings, but the heroines have always been a lot more engaging. Fanny…things just happen TO her. I realize that her position in society didn’t give her a ton of agency, but she spends the whole book judging people on moral purity while not really doing anything herself. It’s otherwise a good read, even if it took til the halfway point to get really interesting.

Непогано.
Але таааак довго розвивалась історія, з такими подробицями описувалися переживання і почуття, а коли дійшло до найцікавішого - раз, і все закінчилося. Почуваюся дещо ошуканою

2.5/5 stars
Mansfield Park follows poor Fanny Price as she grows up on her uncle’s estate among her wealthy cousins, and experiences unrequited love.
Given that this is the last Jane Austen novel that I haven't read, you'd think I'd feel more accomplished upon finishing it, but I don't. I just feel a lot of regret for having put myself through that experience.
I’m being harsh, I recognize that, but other than the writing I couldn’t really find anything that I liked about Mansfield Park. I have nothing against timid, well-mannered protagonists, my issue with Fanny is that she is utterly forgettable. None of the events in Mansfield Park are particularly interesting or exciting, the novel is far too long, and I wasn’t invested in any of the characters whatsoever. Easily my least favourite of Jane Austen’s novels.
