Even If It Hurts

Sam Mariano

3.53 AVERAGE

That was insane. Suspended all disbelief, and enjoyed the ride.

the thing about Sam Mariano is…..

You always want to reread her books again, and again. Boy does she knows how to write sick and twisted people so that you actually believe in them. This was definitely a twisted read and highly recommend reading her trigger warning before you read the book. I also didn’t expect it to be about high school teenagers but it was still a good book. It kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end. I’m just glad it didn’t end as dark as it could’ve.

Dark bully romance

I went into this book blind :) and I have to say wow. It intense sexy and kept you on your toes. I would definitely check triggers. Toxic relationships all in all. Aubrey was innocent and Dare was let’s just say rough around the edges. Aubrey endured a lot through out this book. If you have no triggers and like dark high school romance I would recommend reading it. But if you have any triggers I would be cautious and check.

3.5 stars.

This wasn’t as good as Untouchable. This was a little more unhinged and not necessarily in a way that I liked. Our main character kind of just ditched all of her priorities from the beginning on the book once she was more involved with the MMC. LIKE GIRL.. what happened to alllll that homework you had to do?? And your job? This was good, but it bordered on too much noncon for me and wasn’t as good as untouchable.

Unhinged

This book was pure chaos. It was like riding a rollercoaster and never wanting to get off. I loved it. Dare was definitely unhinged. I was scared for a moment! I was definitely screaming at my kindle for Aubrey to run and run fast! Started off a little slow for me but once it picked up it did not stop.

Content warnings: rape, abuse, bullying, cancer

This book did nothing for me. I can love a dark romance. However, I have to be able to see why the heroine can look past all of the hero’s faults and darkness and why they work as a couple. I have to believe that they truly have a HEA. I never once believed that the hero truly cared for the heroine nor did I believe that the heroine was ever going to be truly happy with the hero. The hero crossed lines that I cannot forgive and did not revive any repercussions for his actions throughout the novel.

Holy psychopath! At first I was like damn this is a classic cheaters story, but dang he’s freaking crazy. Like legit crazy. Can I say Stockholm syndrome much. The spice is nice but not when he’s legit trapped her into this relationship knowing she loses everything if she leaves. He legit nailed a girls hand to a bench just because she insulted her. Then classic narcissist he makes it Audrey’s fault. Poor Audrey she deserves so much better. I was kind of hoping she was gonna leave him for Hannah tho. lol well off to next book.

Are we surprised?
Sam NEVER disappoints in my eyes. Dare was perfect in the most deluded sense of the word. I love him.

Second time reading. I blew through it faster than the first. Dare is my absolute favorite book boyfriend and I should probably talk to my therapist about it lol

Let me tell you something...this is by far the most fucked up book I read all year and I loved it
