Though the twists were easy to guess and it was more riddled with misogyny than usual, it was still a fun read

In my opinion, it is a bit of a stretch to call this a “Miss Marple mystery.” She only briefly shows up in the last 1/3 of the book & then is gone again until the very end.
While it was an ok story, I felt confused through most of it. I can’t really put my finger on exactly what I was confused about or what I didn’t really care for this book about but whatever it was, it was enough to make me debate on giving it a 3 star or a 2.5 star rating.

This might've been the funniest Christie book I've ever read.
I love the narrator - he's sassy, sarcastic & clever (although he has a penchant for the dramatic). The characters were fleshed out really well that I am convinced they were based on real people & the mystery is so well thought off.
I watched the itv series adaptation first before reading this book but that doesn't make reading this any less enjoyable.
In some aspects the series did it better like including Miss Marple early on in the case & how they presented Joanna. In the book, she was a frivolous city brat but in the adaptation she was this cool girl that always there to give her brother a reality check.
I know some readers would prefer for Miss Marple to be the central voice but I think the narrator is great and it makes it much more fun trying to figure out the mystery with him.
Overall, it's a five star read ⭐

I keep thinking about this book. Definitely one of my favourite Miss Marple’s despite the fact she doesn’t show up until the very end.
I would have liked more of Miss Marple and less of Jerry in this one…

Nothing much ever happens in the small town of Lymstock. That is until anonymous, wicked letters start appearing all over town, and the lawyer’s wife commits suicide over the contents of hers.
Luckily, this is a short book. The writing was a bit hard to get into, and Agatha was up to her passive aggressive racism a few times.
Miss Marple doesn’t come in until the very end. Almost as an afterthought. Not a favorite.
