One of Everett's non-satirical novels.

The events in the book are mostly incredibly sad but the narrator retains a somewhat detached demeanor through most of it. It somehow muted the emotional intensity for me.

I must have missed the reason for the title, the metaphor that the author was trying to evoke.

What a quirky book. Honestly, I still don't know 100% how I feel about it, but I'm glad I read it.

This is a book that explores the dramas of a real American life. Nothing that happens in this book, with one exception, is unbelievable. To me  the most remarkable part of this book is how compelling it remains as we live through these more or less ordinary, though some extreme, problems

I found out after finishing that this book was published with three different endings. I've managed to find all three online, but my rating of the book varies depending on the ending - from 3 to 4 stars. So my final rating is an average of the three versions.
