This was a good book, but I kept putting it down. In my opinion, there was so much sex in this book that it took away from the story line. Still, I thought the story itself was great, and I'll probably give the second book a try.

3.5 out of 5 stars

I liked this a lot. It was action packed and had a lot going on (a lot!) which made it super entertaining and slightly chaotic at times. I enjoyed the overall storyline and I really liked all the different characters introduced and the different elements that were in play.

Loved the romance happening between Ryker and Zara. They both totally pushed each other's buttons and since Ryker is totally alpha and Zara is stubborn and had a tendency not to do what she was told it made for some really great scenes. They were sexy, fun, and challenging together and I thought they had great chemistry.

I loved Ryker’s blood brothers Heath and Denver and like how their stories are being set up. I’m excited to reading Lethal Lies (Heath’s story). This was the first book I’ve read by Rebecca Zanetti and had no idea what to expect so some of the things introduced seemed bit out there to me. However, since this is a spin-off series, I assumed these were established facts and just accepted them so I could enjoy the story.

The writing was really good and the story was fast paced. There is a nice element of suspense and intrigue happening but I felt like it was missing grit and depth. It was definitely fun and enjoyable to read however. I thought it started out awesome and had a great first half. The second half was good too, there just a lot more happening and a lot more commotion making it feel like the story was pin-balling everywhere. It all aligned nice and easy and came together in the end.

All in all a great read. Action packed with twists and turns everywhere. It was a wild ride for sure!

DNF. Yeah, I wasn't into this one to begin with, but once the "hero" threatened to spank the "heroine" because she wouldn't do what he told her, I was out. I have ZERO patience for super mega alpha male BS. Not just no, but hell no.

Kickoff to a new series. Rounded down 1 star because the author used the word "rumbled" too many times for description. Ryker & his "blood brothers" Denver and Heath run an investigative agency for finding lost people. The three of them have some superhuman traits such as elevated hearing, catlike agility, and over the top strength. Raised in an abusive boys home when they were children they had escaped and stuck together. Trying to find where they came from and track down their parents has been the life goal. This is Ryker's story. Ryker is an alpha male who is having an affair with Zara who he has feelings for but wants to protect her at all costs and tell her what to do 24/7. Zara is a paralegal, who for that type of background doesn't question much of the shady stuff happening around them. Their relationship intensifies by a lot of dirty sex, danger, & intrigue. There's a side mystery involving a serial killer. The past catches up with Ryker and he has to keep Zara & his brothers safe at all costs. Decent plot but I didn't care for the Ryker's demanding attitude & Zara's ignorance on not knowing much about the guy and just falling back and letting him command everything in the relationship. Side note: Zara's grandmother is hilarious and the serial killer slant continues in the next book

Rebecca Zanetti did it again. This was all that and more. If you want excellent writing, you've got it! If you want action, you've got it. If you want sexy love, you've got it. If you want a suspenseful mystery, you've got it.

Ryker Jones and his brothers, Heath and Denver run an investigative agency called The Lost Bastards and they were hired to flush out a serial killer who was targeting red heads. They are running from a very dangerous past and so they don't even use their real names. While on assignment, Ryker meets the paralegal Zara Remington and sparks flew, Ryker and Zara begin a no-strings attached but monogamous relationship. When Zara becomes a target, Ryker has to re-evaluate what she means to him. With the elusive serial killer still hunting women, can Ryker protect Zara without being fully honest about who he is?

I just loved this book. I loved the plot/writing and awesome narration by Karen White. Zanetti always gives fascinating characters. Here, the heroine Zara was another compelling one. She was bravery, smart and had a big heart. I love strong heroines and she was more than a match for Ryker. I think she definitely inherited all of that from her grandmother. Ryker Jones was a typical Zanetti hero. Alpha male, who is a protector and fiercely loyal to his loved ones. He is possessive, strong, intelligent, mysterious and just so sexy.

There was a lot going on in this book. There is a serial killer. There are three brothers who are hiding from a past and that past is catching up with them. Zara works for a law firm that represents unsavory people and thanks to a new case, Zara has gotten in the middle of some unpleasant people. Then throw in Ryker's situation where Ryker and his two brothers were being blackmailed and there just bad guys all around. Yet it is obvious all these single threads had a connection, it just a matter of connecting the dots.

I know many people say you don't have to read Sin Brothers, but I strongly urge you to read that series first. After all, you'd have to know Dr. Madison and the Commander and the Grey Brothers to truly appreciate the tie-in with this series. Greg and his subplot also would make more sense with the background from that series.
This book was such an exhilarating ride and I couldn't put it down. I loved the characters, the story and I am ecstatic for where this series is going. I can't wait for book 2 and the introduction of more "brothers".

I don't know why I ever doubt the magic and power of Rebecca Zanetti and for some reason I really put this book and I have to ask myself WHY??!! ....and its connected to my favorite series of hers "Sin Brothers" and boy did I have a blast with this one. There is something so unique about Zanetti's writing, she is always able to pull me so quickly into a story and become so hooked on it. And yeah I couldn't put down Deadly Silence and breezed through this book. If you love suspense, mystery, with a bit of psychic abilities thrown into the mix, than you definitely need this book in your life.

From day one, she’d tasted danger on his tongue, and it burned her hotter than she’d ever been.

Our story begins with Ryker and Zara. Ryker and Zara have been having a casual fling, Ryker is busy protecting his brothers, trying to find a serial female rapist murderer, setting up his private investigations business and staying ahead of their enemies. Zara has her own crazy life on the side, she is a paralegal but her once best friend has an abusive husband who happens to be her client and the mayor and trying not to commit too many crimes in the process because she believes in the letter of the law. But Ryker and Zara's relationship is your normal casual fling and its much more cemented than either of them realize. But danger is surrounding them and they may not survive intact

After living her desired routine-driven life for years, she’d craved adventure, and he filled that need. He drew out a wildness she hadn’t realized she possessed.

Deadly Silence was a WHOPPER of a read and I loved every moment of this wild ride that this author takes us on. I honestly have no idea how this trilogy slipped under my radar but you can bet I will be finishing up these books pretty quickly because these brothers and all the side characters we get ....lets just say I need my fix of Zanetti and NOW lol What this author is able to accomplish especially in her romantic suspense books is phenomenal and I swear I will never get enough of it.

She never felt more alive than when he was in town, and she never felt safer than when he was in her bed.

The romance that builds between Zara and Ryker is very empowering and keeps you on edge. And the HEAT in this book is so powerful and could burn down the house, its so powerful. I had forgotten what she can do with her sex scenes, but they are STEAMY HOT and so delicious in so many ways. But what I really loved was the deeper connected and the yummy alphaness we see and man Ryker .....I just want to keep him. And its pretty stunning the way Zara manages him although its not easy and quite frankly at times she does need the boundaries that Ryker sets because she can be reckless at times but she is strong, she is a fighter for those she loves and such a good match for Ryker.

The safest place for her was with him, yet it was also the most dangerous to her heart.

Another delight from this story is seeing Ryker's brothers and their close bond they have together and the connection that we see with Ryker's other family that he doesn't even know about until the "Sin Boys" arrive and some more clues fit the puzzle of what is going on. But there is plenty more for us to discover and I can't wait to see Heath's book (which I hear is the best) so I am picking that up soon.

Overall I found this book to be a thrilling....on the edge of your seat type of reading that blends together sensual delights and exciting chills to utterly captivate the reader in every way!! MAGNIFICENT

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

When Zara's law firm hired The Lost Bastards Investigative Agency, she had no idea the path her life was about to take. Ryker knows it’s extremely dangerous to get close to anyone but Zara reaches a place inside of him he didn't know could exist. As Zara works to help her friend going through a divorce and Ryker is trying to find a serial killer, a new danger involving Ryker's past starts to creep closer. More questions are being asked than there are answers and Zara and Ryker are going to have to decide if they're safer together or apart.

Just who in the hell was Ryker Jones?

A spin-off of the Sin Brothers series, Deadly Silence starts us off with a new set of heroes in Blood Brothers. I have not read any books from the Sin Brothers series (you can guarantee I will be rectifying that) and I wouldn't say it would be a requirement to have done so to start this series. If you have read books from Sin you would have prior knowledge of what the origins of Ryker and his brothers Heath and Denver are but as a newbie, the author did a great job of delaying the knowledge to create mystery and suspense but giving the reader enough at the right times to keep from feeling lost. Now, this book on its own, let me restate the immortal words of Samuel L. Jackson in Jurassic Park, "Hold on to your butts." There is some mad story happening here.

From day one, she'd tasted danger on his tongue, and it burned her hotter than she'd ever been.

The three main story threads were the continuing hunt for a serial killer, Zara's friend going through a divorce, and the three brother's past coming back to haunt them; there is so much happening but for the most part, the author pulls it off. Zara's friend, the divorce, the danger, and the murder mystery that stems from that was probably the weakest and the one I would have shortened way down to streamline. It initially works to get our couple together but the murder mystery fell somewhat flat without room or time to flush out the secondary characters involved with it. I think what kept all the storylines from feeling overwhelming was the author's great use of Heath and Denver, Ryker's brothers. The serial killer plot is the most on the peripheral and Heath mainly deals with that one while the brother's past and origins, with the added character of Greg, starts off smaller with Denver mainly dealing with it until it slowly gains momentum (second half of book) and becomes the main focus by the end with everyone involved. This delegating of story threads kept secondary characters involved while organizing all the plot points.

"You want everything," she countered, trying to make sense of the rioting feelings inside her.
He grinned then, his eyes remaining sober. "I'll get it, too."

With all those story plots happening, our main couple's romance did suffer a bit. We're started off with Zara and Ryker already having a sexual relationship, even though they both started it with the expectations of keeping it casual, so I missed seeing and feeling the building of attraction. I did have some problems connecting with Ryker as he came off a little stiff and distant. I get with his background why he might come off that way to Zara but as the reader, I want to feel more of him in order to care and connect. There was also a little bit of wooden alpha to him at times with his "must protect you" regarding Zara repeating over and over. Zara was a solid heroine with small amounts of little lost girl and then a tad bit fantastical butt-kicking heroine antics towards the end. I would have liked more emotional moments from the two regarding them coming together; again, it's all about the journey for me. If steamy hot bedroom scenes are your thing, you won't be disappointed; Zara and Ryker bring the heat. No complaints there.

"Trust me like I trust you."

Even with so much going on I thought the author nailed the pacing and tone, there were some repetitive scenes/lines but overall, you won't want to put the book down. The romance takes somewhat of a hit but the comprehensive story makes up for it with its intriguing story plots and wide cast of characters. This doesn't end on a strict cliffhanger but if you read this, you're signing up for a shady genetics military program, a hunt for a serial killer, and following along with a trio of brothers who are trying to make sense of it all while trying not to fall in love. I'm on the bandwagon and can't wait to read the next in the series starring Heath.

4.5 stars

I started listening to both Rebecca Zanetti and Karen White with the Sin Brothers series. I quickly fell in love with the Dean brothers, also known as the Grey Brothers because they all have grey eyes. It was a series about four brothers who were raised in a military style school. They had enhanced abilities and were taught to kill at a young age. The four books follow these boys as grown adults as they continue to fight the group that raised them and find the women of their dreams along the way. It was a great story. Imagine my excitement when I learn that there is going to be a spinoff series.

While the Sin Brothers followed the boys raised in a military school, Blood Brothers follows three boys who were raised in a foster home. They are not related and each came to the boys home in a different way. They quickly form a bond. They decide to become blood brothers, as their love is just as much as those brothers who are biologically related. They are now adults and running an investigation agency. They mostly find lost people. Since they are on the search for the sheriff that treated them so poorly as children, they thought it sounds like a business that will allow them to search without raising red flags.

Zara Remington is a paralegal for a legal firm in Cisco, Wyoming. She’s on a tough case. A good friend of hers is getting a divorce and it is an ugly one. Add to the fact that the man she is divorcing is the mayor of the town and things get tricky. Zara breaks her legal ethics to help her friend and things go from bad to worse.

Ryker Jones has been seeing Zara for a while at the start of this book. It isn’t really dating, more like just the occasional sex thing, when he is in town. They both like it that way. But as things around Zara get more dicey, Ryker and The Lost Bastards Investigative Agency step into help her out and to keep her safe. Ryker, along with his blood brothers Heath and Denver, have great abilities to help keep Zara safe.

There is also Greg, another kid that was raised at the compound. He’s looking for his brothers and wants The Lost Bastards Investigative Agency to help him find them. He wants them to find the good doctor from the Sin Brother books. Oh, and the Dean brothers make an appearance. It was great to see them again.

This story takes place chronologically after the Sin Brothers books. You could start here if you want. This is a new story, so everything is explained to you. Here’s the thing though, there are some spoilers if you start here, so you have to know that if you go back to read the Sin Brothers, you will have extra information. Also, you will figure things out quicker if you have the information from the original series. I don’t think that would lower the enjoyment of this series at all.

If you like romantic suspense, this is a very fun series, along with Sin Brothers. There are some paranormal aspects in that the men in this book are genetically enhanced and have abilities that are not available to the rest of us. Enhanced hearing, increased intelligence and other extra senses. I can’t wait for the next book. I just love the world that Zanetti has built here.

Narration
I’m so glad that they got Karen White to do this series. After listening to her narrate the Sin Brothers, it was great to have her back to take us on this journey with Blood Brothers. I like her ability to voice alpha male characters and women characters. The real unique voice in this series is the voice of the “good doctor”. She sounds exactly how I would expect a person like this woman would sound. If you haven’t tried Karen White, I highly recommend her.

4 Star Fantastic Read!

Loved this and can't wait for #2.

I really liked this book. I had to stop reading it for a bit because I had to read some other books. But I cannot wait to read the next one. I love the characters.
