A todas las mujeres, may i find you in every life as a crowd to numb your pain

| It took me a few chapters to fully get into this story, but once I did, I found it deeply compelling.

While the narrative is undeniably heartbreaking, I enjoyed the dual perspectives, the concise, impactful chapters, and the evocative writing style. The inclusion of references to modern acts of violence and misogyny against women adds a poignant layer, making Geillis Duncan’s harrowing experiences feel disturbingly relevant and close to our own time.

A short, captivating read that was an uncomfortable delight to read in one evening.

Geillis Duncan is locked up below Edinburgh's High Street, the night before her execution. Convicted of witchcraft in the North Berwick witch trials, Geillis receives a visitor from the future through the ether– Iris. Simple but masterful prose explores the injustices facing women in the past and present, and the resonance of witch trials in contemporary womanhood.

The short nature of the book intensifies the reading experience and there is excellent dread and rage built throughout the pages. The exploration of the experiences of these two women from different historical moments was well and thoughtfully crafted, with interesting parallels drawn between them.

An impactful read sure to provoke thought and create a consuming reading experience.

Maybe I’m confused but did I just read a book from the perspective of a crow??

Either way the writing style wasn’t my vibe.
