I am reading this to gain more context on the author and any influence there may be on Chainsawman.
I think some of my enjoyment of this came from having read csm before. This is a lot darker than CSM. Kind of has some vibes of Snowpiercer, mostly just because of the dystopian snowy world. Also feels a little bit like the edgy parts of early Berserk. Also some of the bad cliches of manga. I am hoping the edginess wears off in later volumes because some panels in this book were very uncomfy to read. Thematically may have been appropriate though so I could get through it.
If you are interested in something between Snow Piercer, Berserk, and Chainsaw man this manga may be worth checking out.

1 chapter in and my mind was saying, WTF did I just read?
From the get go it is bizarre to say the least.
Then hell breaks loose. An 8 year time skip! 8 years of pain and suffering in one page? Who is this writer? Underselling and overselling at the same time?
But who doesn't love a good revenge story set in a hellish future. (Dystopian would be an understatement, sadly)

Very dark world with a great and interesting premise and lore. Really consistently good artwork, maybe more so than even CSM, though the panelling is sometimes a bit random and hard to pars. Characters seem a bit simplistic but definitely have room for depth.

Cool premise, but feels a little empty. Lots of sexual content that didn't seem necessary. Great use of panel layout.

Das ganze war eindeutig ein Coverkauf für mich. Die Aufmachung mit diesem Rundum-Umschlag, dem Fotodruck und allgemein dem Bild, hat mich einfach so gecatched.
Das der Inhalt sehr butal werden würde, wusste ich bereits aus verschiedenen Reviews. Auch das er teilweise schon zu heftig und makaber sein würde. So gewarnt, konnte ich den Manga aber überraschend genießen. Ich fand diese postapokalyptischen Welt mit Fantasyspekten sehr spannend und mitreißend. Auf die vielen Anspielungen auf Pädophilie hätte ich aber sehr gut verzichten können und ich hoffe sehr, dass dies kein größeres Thema in der Reihe wird.
Der Hauptprotagonist ist mir sehr sympathisch und ich fieberte mit ihm mit. Ich hoffe er bekommt seine Rache und bin gespannt, wie es dann weiter gehen wird. Auch einige Nebencharaktere fand ich super interessant. Das Ende war sehr verwirrend und ich bin froh schon Band 2 hier zu haben.
Der Zeichenstil gefällt mir sehr. Er wirkt gar nicht so typisch Manga-mäßig und ich liebe die Gestik, Mimik und auch die Hintergründe. Alles in allem hat der Manga mich positiv überrascht.
