I love this book, short and sweet, I didn’t expect to love the MMC as much as I did.

This book is a little difficult for me to review because I have some thoughts about it that require more care to discuss, and I'm not sure I'm able to do that right now.
What I will say is that this was definitely my least favorite of the three Regine Abel books I've read so far. Partly because I didn't like these characters as much, partly because this series really does follow the same basic story outline as the others, and I'm bored with it. But mostly because this book felt really icky to me in terms of how Zatruk's community is described, as well as the dynamic between him and Rihanna. At some point, I want to talk about this in depth and really delve into what I felt reading this and the questions it brought up for me, but for now, this will have to do.
I'm disappointed because I maintain that Regine Abel is a wonderful storyteller, and I do still plan on exploring her series. But this book in particular kept grinding my gears to the point where things I might not have been frustrated with before were really annoying me now. It was a let down.

Moderate: Racism
I think there is some issue with racism re: Zatruk and his community. It's nothing explicit, and I assume it isn't intentional, but imo it's there.
Rihanna and Zatruk had all the banter and tenderness between them. Rihanna fit into Yurus culture well and was a good support for her spouse. The biological issues the Yurus were running into weee interesting and complex. However, I’m still a bit confused about the complexity of the solution. The was a simpler way forward.

LOVED this 😍🥵
Rihanna is about to serve 20 years for a crime she didn’t commit.. until she’s given an offer she can’t refuse. Zatruk never expected his mate to be so small or fragile.. until she immediately proves him wrong. Will he be able to woo his new wife into staying forever?
Zatruk.. what a big teddy bear. He comes off so intimidating and scary but is actually so sweet and caring. I love that Rihanna calls him on it so often that he eventually leans into it… but only with her. They are so perfect for the other, it’s adorable. The way they rile each other up is so funny. Ahh I just loved this so much!
I think this might be my favorite in the series so far! 😍

I have no earthly idea if I like this series or not. This was better than the last one but still exactly what I’m looking for

📖 **My Thoughts**
This was a reread as I wanted to see the character art in colour on my new kindle. I love Rhianna, she's badass but in quite a relatable way. They take any cultural differences in their stride and he's such a cinnamon roll! This is my favourite in the series and I think both characters are just really sweet and easily loveable. I enjoyed how they solved the problem and the plot revolved around issues they tackled together rather than issues between them

He's a big boy with all the enjoyable side effects of that. The spice is more on the sweet side and although is a big part of the story, the emphasis is for sure more on the build in their relationship.
