This was a really quick read, and I wasn't fully convinced by the argument that we have moved past a disciplinary society (I mean honestly, it came out before Trump and covid and it shows). I was intrigued by the discussion of depression as an affliction of over-positivity, though. All in all much briefer and less conpelling than The Scent of Time was, but I will definitely pick up more before passing final judgment.

Readability is questionable at times, but the content is poignant to both myself and society, and fun to contemplate

Mostly nonsense. There are a few interesting and incisive observations about contemporary culture in here, but most of it is so concealed behind specious German idealism that it's pretty much useless. His idea is that we live in an age characterized not by discipline, but by excessive self-entrepreneurship, which he relates to the development of mental disorders like depression and ADHD. This is potentially interesting, but then he spends most of the time talking about the Other and Hegel and shit. Just read Houellebecq instead.
