I didn't understand anything.

I think it's my first time reading books from modern/contemporary philosopher that still alive and well today? And Byungchul Han interests me because, oddly enough, I found his name when I was looking for books regarding ADHD.

In this book, Byungchul Han argued that nowadays many people getting depression and/or ADHD is because nowadays we're not a punishment society anymore, but moving onto achievement society. So in punishment society, we were actively point and then exclude 'the other', and thus 'the abnormal' that was brought by 'the other' was avoided and we project sameness. But now, since we're moving to achievement society, it's a society that celebrates difference as long as with those difference we can achieve more. That means the control for 'otherness' is weaken and thus the abnormal that we're exposed of, we deal with them individually. So in achievement society, we push ourselves to create more and achieve more, but that's make us voluntarily abuse and punish ourselves for the sake of achievements.

Interesting argument.
