One of my favorites reads of this summer - keeps you wanting to read more when you put it down and the ending ties in all the plot lines together so nicely!!

Chanel Cleeton always writes characters that feel real, but she grounds them into reality so well that they leap off the page, larger than life. She generally writes about the aftermath of the Cuban revolution, but she turned her focus to another island this time, well an island chain: the Keys and the Labor Day Hurricane of 1935. The horrific destruction it left in its wake is something I can't even imagine, but Chanel Cleeton grounds the action by focusing on three women who are confronted by nature's fury and human evil. It was a page turner for sure. The characters made you care enough to keep turning pages, hoping for happy endings for all three women

This book was mostly fluff with a bit of history and suspense thrown in. I was intrigued by the three women’s stories interconnecting, but it left more to be desired. I thought the first half was more engaging than the second half, even though most of the action happened in the second half - I guess I liked the build-up but found the climax a bit anticlimactic. I preferred Chanel Cleeton’s When We Left Cuba, but will continue reading her books.
