I very much enjoyed reading The Last Train to Key West and think I'm a solid Chanel Cleeton fan after three books in a row at 5 stars from me. Set during Labor Day weekend in 1935, when a devastating hurricane hit the Florida Keys, this work of historic fiction truly delights. It's suspenseful, romantic, interesting and gave me an expanded understanding of what it might be like to experience that kind of natural disaster.

Audiobook. 3.5. A bit too neatly wrapped up but interesting historical setting.

Enjoyed the book. Quick read

I liked the other books by this author better but continue to love hearing about the Perez family.

Love love loved this book. Loved how all the characters were connected (sometimes in quite surprising ways), loved the love stories, loved the way the 1935 Labor Day Hurricane played such a huge role. Definitely a two-sitting book!

The Last Train to Key West was definitely a page-turner that I had trouble putting down, but it just didn’t amount to Cleeton’s other books (When We Left Cuba & Next Year in Havana), so I gave it 3 stars. The characters just didn’t feel as developed to me as they did in her other books, and jumping between 3 storylines/POVs in a book that wasn’t super long felt a bit jumbled. I enjoyed it, but not as much as Cleeton’s past work.
