 2.5 stars. This was a bit frustrating... I questioned every decision made by the MFC. The whole of the plot was bit over the top and unrealistic as I couldn't really grasp the motives of the antagonist.

I finished this book and my heart was racing like I’d run a 5k. The author did an excellent job making this horrendous situation realistic and really makes you wonder what you would do in the same situation and makes you realize you’d do the exact same thing. Genuinely scary stuff.

I listened to this book, and I would recommend it in audiobook form over reading it on page. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. The 2nd-person POV (only one of the perspectives out of the three in this book) wasn’t distracting in the slightest, and it made me feel so much closer to The Woman. The discomfort associated with the attached “you” was crucial to living this story with her. It was heart pounding, disturbing, and hopeful.

I saw a lot of people hyping this up on booktok, and I get why. It's a fast-paced read, I read this in two sittings, super easy to get through. I think it's better targeted for people who aren't very into the thriller/mystery genre. I was slightly disappointed there was no big plot twist, I kept making up these crazy twists about how this story would play out, but it just ended up playing out as what I consider to be a predictable story line. I mean ...

guy takes a girl. girl trying to find a way out. she is STRONG and BRAVE. girl gets out and all is solved. the end.
