4 stars. Loved it. I've seen so many adaptations of this story so I decided it was time to finally read the source material. I'm so glad I did because this was a charming, heartfelt story.
I loved the writing. I read Dickens's Great Expectations in high school and while the book I didn't care for, I did find his writing style to be intriguing. I sometimes have a hard time with classics but this one was a breeze to get through and comprehend. Ebenezer Scrooge is a fascinating character and I loved watching the growth and development he goes through. For this to be such a short read Dickens really did a fantastic job in writing a fleshed out character.
Overall, I see why this is such a beloved holiday classic and I'm glad I finally read it.

I was most impressed at how it was a pretty spooky gothic novel at times. The armada of spirits haunting the London skies! The feral children under the giant's cloak! Good on you, Charlie Dicks!
Kinda funny that in both this and Uncle Tom there's a little sick kid meant to evoke superpathos and one of the tricks they pull on ya is to make the kid EXTREMELY Christian and knowledgeable of scripture which lmao

Um Conto de Natal é um livro muito lindo, com uma mensagem incrível é perfeita para essa época do ano. Já tinha visto vários filmes baseados nele, mas foi bom ler o original.
Confesso que quando vi o autor fiquei com medo da escrita ser complicada ou difícil de entender, o medo que assola a leitura de clássicos. Mas já adianto que a tradução dessa edição é muito boa, muito fácil de compreender. Sem contar que a edição é linda, toda ilustrada, acabamento de primeira? Tenho tido ótimas experiências com livros da Antofágica.
Os textos ao final do livro também são muito bons, contextualizam um pouco a história e a vida do autor, além de fazerem uma análise sobre o livro e outras obras de Dickens.
Do mais, é uma história comovente que nos faz pensar sobre nossas escolhas, atitudes e a vida de forma geral. É possível tirar inúmeros ensinamentos.
