IM FREEEEEEEEE WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE

oh how this book pissed me off, the first 100 pages were SO good and then it decided to become a soap opera in the middle of people being murdered like what in the world??? not to mention the real H.H Holmes murders took place 2 years after these events, the author couldn’t just do a 2 year time skip? Anyways, cressworth were the only saving grace of this whole series, especially books 1, 3 and 4. The only book out of this series I loved was Hunting Prince Dracula, now that was great, the other 3… eh not so much. As much as I love cressworth I’m going to unhaul these books from my shelf as I wasn’t a big fan sadly. What a mess.

The plot is paced sooooo well, I binged it in a day. First half was very slow, ngl, but the second hit HARD.

Forced myself to finish the series after reading the first 3,5 books last year. Next to nothing happened for at least 300 pages. For someone who gets a hard-on from post mortems and weighing livers, Audrey sure did express repeatedly her aversion and disgust towards death. The forged engagement was an insurmountable problem for about 100 pages until it was solved in one day magically, god save the queen. It wasn't horrible or anything, just ok. All in all, came for the murder, stayed because I refuse to dnf

I let this one settle in for a while and I found that I did not think about it as much as I had expected to. Usually I can't get good books out of my head for a good while after finishing them (especially when they're finales). Not sure if I'm a bit disappointed. Perhaps I expected a more intense ending, this series definitely deserves a grand one.

I'm a little biased in any case. So I still enjoyed it. But this still could've been better. And I think I'm talking more mystery-wise than anything.
