I really loved the characters and thought the plot was wonderful, but in my opinion the novel dragged on a bit (though it might have been simply because of the writing style)

A pretty satisfying wrap up to the series. There were some parts that drove me crazy (Audrey Rose does some dumb stuff) but I really liked the final mystery and how it connected back with the book that kicked off the series, plus Audrey Rose and Thomas get the conclusion they deserve.
I really enjoyed that this book called back to the Ripper murders in book one and the unsolved murder in book three. With the Ripper like murders in New York, Audrey Rose delves into her memories about her brother and his death. Discovery of his journals makes her question everything she thought she knew about what happened in London. These questions lead to Chicago during the World’s Fair and of course ties in an incredibly well-known serial killer H.H. Holmes and his murder castle. The investigation, and actions of the killer, start to show that Audrey Rose is the main target of the killer.
I really enjoyed that Mephistopheles showed back up, however briefly (honestly I just want a whole series about him and the circus!). I could have done without the contrived storyline that was used to create another stumble for Thomas and Audrey Rose, but I liked that it brought in Audrey Rose’s fun grandmother and gave her some great lines.

I cant believe this was it! I want more!

this was by far my favourite book in the series!!

It's time to say goodbye to this series of books!
Overall, I enjoyed this last book, Kerri Maniscalco is as good as ever at immersing her readers in the atmosphere of the period, and her endnotes show impressive research. I've always liked Creswell, of course, and even enjoyed Audrey Rose (no mean feat!).
Nonetheless, I found the romance too present, and I think it intruded on the case which, I felt, took a back seat.

We were treated to redundant declarations of love (sorry not sorry), and the battle at the end left me a little confused.

So despite the aspects of the book that I absolutely hated (with Audrey Rose's dubious decisions), my favourite volume will surely remain the third :)

Just a quick little note, I adored this series and the characters. I was extremely impressed with the first book and enjoyed the second. Third was good. This one I enjoyed bits and pieces of. The storyline felt rushed and not as well cared for as the previous. With that being said, I still truly did love this series and would recommend it.
