A fitting end to this series, but it is probably my least favorite of the series. I could have done without the OW drama. The redemption arc for Nathaniel seemed like the author was trying to rewrite history.

What a great way to tie all of the books together and to give such a satisfying ending to a great series!
I loved books one and two. Book three was highly unrealistic but an enjoyable read if you just take it as a work of fiction without trying to place in the historical aspects.
This book- I DNF at a little over halfway through. This series is about forensics and bodies and serial killers. This book is a contemporary romance with two 21st century characters who happened to be traveling to Victorian era Chicago. Oh and while they are there, they find a serial killer and stop him. As a side note to the contemporary romance.
Oh god the back and forth and we can’t be together and blah blah blah. Everyone knows they’ll end up together eventually. Why waste so much time and so many words on the relationship? How many women were killed while you were planning your wedding? Blah. Just blah.

Not much better than the third book, and still not quite as captivating as the first two novels. I think my main issues are with the historical inaccuracies. The characters simply do not read as Victorian. While I appreciate the modern views and opinions of the narrator, I think there is a way to craft a forward thinking Victorian woman whose prose does not disrupt the historical setting. The Victorian era seems more of an aesthetic than a setting in this series. I also wish that there wasn't quite so much time spent on the romance. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE a good romantic side storyline. But, I don't love when it takes up so much space that I forget the main plot. Also, the epilogue feels like two different endings. Aside from that, I enjoyed the banter, the action, and the lovely descriptions.
Had to finish the series but definitely my least favorite of the 4.
