I overall enjoyed this entire series from Kerri. Hunting Prince Dracula I think my favorite though.
The book does start out more slow and then the crescendo of an ending is gory and then I do feel a bit rushed. I would have like to see more, or at least would love to see them into early adulthood with more adventures.
This last book was filled with more sex than I anticipated but i did not mind it. A good seamy love story is not a bad thing.
I love Thomas as a character and like seeing them evolve together but I could have used more Thomas, but I know Audrey Rose is the meant to be star.
I did find that the first wedding maybe was not needed, that bit of drama did break my heart and I do question it a bit, but again it was part of their story so I can accept it and move on.
I do enjoy the tie ins of historical places and people as well.
If you enjoy young adult love, adventures, sarcasm, teasing and gore, check out the series.

I loved the incorporation of all the killers and all the little details going with them. One off my absolute favorite series. It has inspired me to be as brave as Audrey Rose and to find someone who will cherish and respect me like Thomas.
Thank you Kerri for writing such masterpieces

The mix of real life with the fantastical love story that is Thomas and Audrey Rose is one of my favorites.
I'm sad to be done with these characters but what a lovely ending

Alright...so this final installment was a little more lovey-dovey than the other 3 but I suppose I didn’t mind.
I was, however, sad that the “big reveal” felt so rushed at the conclusion.
Audrey Rose and Thomas are one of my all-time favorite YA pairings. Good banter, good chemistry, good growth.
I would love to re-read the entire series again and find the morsels I missed.
(P.S. - Secretly hoping a certain Mephistopheles gets his own series. LOVE him!)

I'm so sad for this series to end but I loved it! I can't wait to see what Kerri Maniscalco comes up with next!
FIRST READ (Nov 2021-5 stars)
This was an emotional rollercoaster and had angst enough for the entire four book series. I feel like every twist and turn was well set up and kinda remarkable on the part of the author. When starting this series, I did not anticipate that I would fall head over heels in love with it nor the couple inside its pages.

Probably a 3.5.
What a rough book to rate! This series has been so fun (I know, not quite the right word for a series primarily about gruesome murders but what else can I use??) and easy to pick up. With each book, I quickly got swept into the new mystery and the progression of Audrey Rose and Thomas's relationship. The series as a whole had some clever moments, sweet relationships, and dangerous thrills.
I suppose my main issue with this last installment was how much it swung to focus on Audrey + Thomas's desire for each other. On one hand, it was pretty heavy in lust and romance for a YA. What actually bothered me, though, was how the murders and mystery took a backseat. At 65% through the story hardly any work had been done towards figuring out the perpetrator or stopping the crimes.
Maybe the mix of romance and mystery would have worked better if they had been happening simultaneously? Instead, the revelation of who the murderer was and the thrilling climax to the overarching mystery was crammed into the last pages. I even enjoyed the direction the plot went - tying things back to book one - and think that could have been a powerful move if more focus had been given to it. The hints that came back from earlier in the series clicked for me and made for an interesting twist - it's just that the twist fell flat due to how rushed the resolution felt.
Also, maybe it was just me, but Audrey Rose had some weird stuff going on in her head. She was constantly saying things like: "I'll strangle him myself" and "If so-and-so hurts Thomas, I'll disembowel him." It felt... odd, given the the nature of the WHOLE SERIES was to stop murderers?? And it wasn't a one-time thing - Audrey was constantly thinking similar things all throughout Capturing the Devil. Maybe a small complaint, but her character felt off to me. Perhaps some of her trauma was just catching up to her?
Overall, I enjoyed the series, even if the last book wasn't the most enjoyable to me. Book two, Haunting Prince Dracula, was by far my favorite, but I didn't dislike any of the books in the Stalking Jack the Ripper series. I would definitely recommend to YA audiences who lean towards horror or don't mind gorier stories, but who also want a heavy helping of romance as the story progresses!

**romance notes: lots of desiring, admiring physical attributes, thinking about kissing the other person, etc. A couple vaguely open door and fade-to-black scenes. Innuendo in the form of jokes. The romance in the series continually ramps up to be the heaviest in this installment.
**content notes: murder, disfigured corpses, skeletons/bones/remains. medical gore (autopsies, examining the dead and murdered, etc). threatening notes/items left to scare others. strained father-son relationship & manipulation. misogynistic viewpoints present. a character is captured and held prisoner.

And let's not even talk about the Creswell + Ms. Whitehall drama. Ugh.Maybe the mix of romance and mystery would have worked better if they had been happening simultaneously?
