Good. Lord. My poor, poor heart. I am moderately emotional anyway, but add in being pregnant again and this book wrecked me. I loved it, but it was PAINFUL. Recommending to everyone!
This book. THIS BOOK.
It's about a girl named Sammie, who has a degenerative disease similar to dementia. She is focused, driven, and about to be on her way to Stanford and she is a debate pro. The only problem is, she is going to start losing her memory.
This book is heartbreaking and sweet. It's full of optimism and hope, but it also doesn't gloss over the hard topics. The hard topics also aren't obsessed about. This is not a book that is all about disease. Just like life, you take things and deal with them as they come at you.
There's also a bit of a love story here, which I loved. It was so natural, and I was rooting for them the whole time. At the beginning of the book I couldn't really see them together, but the more I read, the more I grew to love them together.
This book just put me on a roller coaster of feelings and I highly recommend it to anyone, especially anyone who likes reading about realistic portrayals of illness.

A few months ago I ordered two blind date with a book/ candle combos from Bad Art Good Vibes on etsy. I didn't really have a preference for what kinda book arrived, and one of the books that did come was The Memory Book.
Sammie is a bright young girl with a promising future ahead of her. That is, until she is diagnosed with NPC, a rare genetic disorder thy presents like alzhimers or dementia. Determined to recover, she resoves herself to write journal entries for future Sam to read and look back on. She captures her first kiss, her first date, and resuming her friendship with her childhood best friend. Unfortunately, the memory book becomes a record of Sammie's decline, until the end.
When I tell you I ugly cried for 30 to 40 minueys after reading this book, I am not exaggerating. This book was beautiful, and captures the stress and denial that comes along with being given a terminal diagnosis. The family struggles that come along with a family member being sick. It captures how hard it can be to be young, to be in love, and to be sick.

Moving story about a girl who is losing her memory❤
This book is about a teenage girl with a disease where her memory is deteriorating. The story is told as a book she is recording for her future self so she will have something to help her remember when she forgets. I really enjoyed this book as Sammie is really only discovering who she is at the same time she is losing herself. Does that make sense? It will if you read this one!
I'm going to give this a 3.75 which is rare cause I never do a strange star rating. This was absolutely adorable if not extremely predictable but still pretty damn devastating. I think the ending was a bit abrupt which is sad because it could have been brilliant (aka I could have been left ugly crying on my bed). Think it's worth a read if you want something quick and cute. Flora Banks still wins in the wtf factor when it comes to YA books about memory loss tho.
Gah. Super quick ready, loved Sammie as a character, the format of the book made it easy to fly through the book. Thought it would be more heart wrenching but glad it wasn't in the end...
