This is a very very dark read. Check your triggers. There were a lot of flashbacks which isn’t my personal favorite storytelling device and distracted from the current story. Given this is a 3 book series this makes more sense assuming the next 2 are going to be less flashback heavy and the story between the two main characters has been adequately set up. This book was action packed. Very spicy. Overall I enjoyed this book.

I AM SICK, that ending was CRIMINAL!! Leigh River’s books has been on my mental TBR for months and I’m so happy I picked this up cause I have a feeling I am about to find a new favorite dark romance series. Kade and Stacey’s story is one filled with pain but love.
Kade and Stacey are a second chance romance that will hurt your heart. We get to see the beginning, middle, and end of their relationship through past and present timelines. The past and present timelines were done so perfectly and had me itching to get more moments of them in the past falling in love for the first time. Getting all their cute moments in the past timeline made it hurt even more seeing how they were towards each other in the present😭
Kade has been through SO much in this life and still would do anything to protect his family and those he loves. He is possessive and obsessive but so much more. As we got to know more of his story throughout the book, I just wanted him to have someone protect him the way he protects everyone else. Stacey is a broken girl who deserves the world. When we get the real backstory to her actions that broke her and Kade up two years prior, I wanted to give her the biggest hug! She is so patient and accepting of Kade and his dark side, always being the one to bring him out of his spirals despite all the traumas she personally goes through in her life.
I need to get to book 2 immediately because I need to know where we go from the ending of this book! I knew something was coming but I still wasn’t prepared😭 The audiobook is expertly done with a full cast including Teddy Hamilton, Lucy Rivers, Shane East, JF Harding, Michelle Sparks, Zara Hampton Brown, and Roxelana Waters! They all bring their A-game with this one, pouring emotions into each character. I can’t imagine reading this series without the audios to accompany my ebook so this is my formal request to MLA for books 2 and 3🤣
